Research Update

Here are some interesting must-read articles by the medical community about the medical community.  This first one entitled “Exploring the Harmful Effects of Health Care” states that:
On balance, the data remain imprecise, and the benefits that US health care currently deliver may not outweigh the aggregate health harm it imparts.  Health care contributes only about 10% toward reducing premature death.¹
They aren’t even sure if they are breaking even!  Let us cross reference that with the study “Death by Medicine,” written by MD’s and PhD’s:
Medicine is a leading cause of death in U.S.  The estimated annual mortality of medical intervention is 783,936 lives and the economic cost is $282 billion.²
So if U.S. health care contributes “only about 10% toward reducing premature death,” and is responsible for 780,000+ deaths per year, what are we to do?  Our health care system is in crisis.  The total cost is $2.5 trillion dollars (17% of our GDP).  That means $1 out of every $6 goes to health care!  What do we get for such an investment?  The World Health Organization ranks the U.S. 37th in overall health care performance, and we lead with the highest infant mortality rates for industrialized nations.
Lucian Leape, M.D. states in the Journal of the American Medical Association that:
“180,000 die each year partly as the result of iatrogenic (doctor induced) injury, the equivalent of 3 jumbo jet crashes every 2 days.”³
That is like having a 9/11 every 2 days!  Since it is spread out across the country, we don’t hear anything about it.  It is a tragedy and twisted logic that we even call our system health care when it is only focused on disease.  Remember, you have one body and one life, it is your lifestyle choices that significantly affect your longevity.  There is a way to achieve wellness in today’s world, it is a matter of choice and personal responsibility.  Get adjusted, eat right, be fit, and think positive.  Do this consistently and watch your life change.
My purpose is to be happy, healthy, vibrant, and to teach others to do the same.  If you are healthy you can be a better citizen, spouse, parent, worker, and friend.  You have more energy to devote to your purpose and vision, more years to achieve your goals, and more time on earth to enjoy your loved ones.  This is how we build better communities, one healthy family at a time.

Your Story, Your Health

Today I would like to share a story with you from an unknown author.  It is applicable in many ways, but as you are reading it, think of yourself as the carpenter of your body.  You hold within you the power to lead a long, healthy life if you use the right materials and the right effort.  God supplied the blueprint, and daily we provide the materials to rebuild.  Build wisely, and live abundantly.
The Carpenter’s Story
An elderly carpenter was ready to retire. He told his employer-contractor of his plans to leave the house building business and live a more leisurely life with his wife enjoying his extended family. He would miss the paycheck, but he needed to retire. They could get by.
The contractor was sorry to see his good worker go and asked if he could build just one more house as a personal favor. The carpenter said yes, but in time it was easy to see that his heart was not in his work. He resorted to shoddy workmanship and used inferior materials. It was an unfortunate way to end his career.
When the carpenter finished his work and the builder came to inspect the house, the contractor handed the front-door key to the carpenter. “This is your house,” he said, “my gift to you.”
What a shock!  What a shame!
If he had only known he was building his own house, he would have done it all so differently. Now he had to live in the home he had built none too well.
So it is with us. We build our lives in a distracted way, reacting rather than acting, willing to put up less than the best. At important points we do not give the job our best effort. Then with a shock we look at the situation we have created and find that we are now living in the house we have built. If we had realized that we would have done it differently.
Think of yourself as the carpenter. Think about your house. Each day you hammer a nail, place a board, or erect a wall. Build wisely. It is the only life you will ever build. Even if you live it for only one day more, that day deserves to be lived graciously and with dignity. The plaque on the wall says, “Life is a do-it-yourself project.”
Your life tomorrow will be the result of your attitudes and the choices you make today.
I am always here to teach you how to build a healthy lifestyle.  The “how” is easy: eat right, get adjusted regularly, exercise often, and be positive.  It is the “why” that matters.  Once you understand and practice the “why”, it becomes second nature.
Begin to learn the “why” at Trinity Chiropractic Wellness or by reading more here.  I am happy to respond to your questions.
In Health and Happiness,
Dr. Cole

Healthy Eating is now being called a mental disorder!

I’m speechless…
This is how sick and twisted things are becoming.  It’s called “Healthy Eating Disorder,” and it states that people are nervous about proper eating and making wise choices, and in eating well, they become malnourished.  They would rather you fill yourself up with chemicals, put no thought into what you are doing, and continue buying all the crap that is out there for you to consume.
If you read this and really think about it, there is absolutely no logic whatsoever.  According to these experts, avoiding chemicals, dairy, and sugar makes you a mental health patient!  If you avoid genetically modified foods, growth hormones, and pesticides, then they say there is something wrong with you!
Wake up everyone, I implore you to think for yourself before listening to all this garbage.  Our country is more sick now then it has ever been, and it appears some would like to keep it that way.
Find true health, visit me @ Trinity Chiropractic Wellness and see how to build health from the inside out.  You were born to be healthy, reclaim that birthright today!

Heartburn drugs under fire

Common heartburn drugs are under fire, as a series of studies from the Archives of Internal Medicine released on Monday demonstrating serious side effects such as increase in fractures and bacterial infections.
Collectively, these drugs are called proton pump inhibitors, but they are better known as Nexium (AstraZeneca), Prilosec (AstraZeneca), Protonix (Pfizer), and Prevacid (Takeda).  These medicines have a total U.S. sales of 13.9 billion annually, as an estimated 113 million prescriptions are filled each year.  Dr. Michael Katz, director for the San Francisco Department of Public Health, states that 60 to 70 percent of people taking proton pump inhibitors do not need to be on them.  This problem is augmented by people being unaware of the risk until now.
One of the studies was done at University of Washington, taking 161,806 women ranging from 50 to 79 years old over an eight year period and determined those taking the drugs had a 25 percent increase in fracture risk, primarily of the spine and wrist.
Another study tied to Harvard Medical School examined over 100,000 patients discharged from hospitals over a five year span.  They found that people who use a proton pump inhibitor drug daily have a 74 percent increase in cases of Clostridium difficile infection.  This is a sometimes deadly cause of diarrhea, and the cost of treating it has risen over 1 billion each year.
It is a common trend to see pharmaceutical lifestyles yield serious side effects.  There is a price to be paid for putting foreign chemicals into a human body, especially over long periods of time.  Heartburn is not caused by your body’s lack of making Prilosec, it is more likely due to poor food and lifestyle choices. If you have seen the commercials, they tell you that it is okay to eat pizza, wings, beer, and french fries as long as you take your medicine ahead of time.  The truth is your body knows these things are toxic and is trying to reject them.  Make better choices, create better health, and avoid unnecessary side effects.

In the Footsteps of Greatness

I have been spending the weekend at the Grove Park Inn, where B.J. Palmer, the developer of our great chiropractic profession would stay and work on philosophy.  His picture is hanging up in the hall next to Presidents, where they honor him as “the father of chiropractic,” (though erroneous, I was still very excited to see him up on the wall).

It is easy to see why he chose this place, it drips of  inspiration with an amazing view of the Smoky Mountains.  You can really shut out the world here and be still, an art that is all but lost in my generation. Being here in his temporal footsteps is not only motivating, but challenging.  Can I contribute a fraction of what he did?  Will I leave chiropractic as a better than when I entered it?  My heart declares a resounding yes, and I know it can be done as long as I stay true to the purpose and vision for the second century of chiropractic.

Do You want a Healer or a Dealer?

Health care is such a burning topic right now, and with all the press and dinner conversations going on about it, what is missing from the dialogue is health.  If you've been following my blog for any time at all, you have heard me talk about Health Care & Sick Care.  What we have in America is Sick Care, in fact you can see it all around you...we have more medicine, more surgery, more hospitals and we are sicker than ever before!  Our current system does not address health, it focus on ameliorating symptoms so we can continue our hectic lifestyles uninterrupted....then we are surprised when our health fails!  Health is proactive, I believe health to be the byproduct of making positive lifestyle decisions repeatedly over time.

Health is something you create, it is not early detection, preventative medicine, or screenings.  True health care adds value to your life.  Remember, when you give Sick Care to a community and call it Health Care, you end up with a sick society and a health care crisis.  This brings me to Healers & Dealers (thanks to Dr. J for the title).

Healers:
  • Know that the body is able to heal itself, and encourage the process
  • Have a purpose and mission to educate and empower humanity so people can choose health
  • Are concerned with how your body is functioning, and create care plans to optimize your health potential
  • Inspire people to see what is possible, and offer hope, compassion, and an environment for people to succeed
  • Know that everything the body does (even feeling pain), it does for an intelligent reason (in order to survive in it's current environment).
Dealers:
  • Champion themselves as having or being the "cure" to your symptoms.
  • Wait until you have a problem that needs "fixing" through chemicals (medication) or removal or body parts (surgery)
  • Are concerned with how your body is feeling, and offer solutions to try to get rid of your current pain and symptoms.  For example: "Try this (pills) for a couple weeks, if they don't work or you get a bad reaction, come back and we'll try something different."
  • Like to get you hooked on their chemical so you become a lifetime consumer of one or more of their products
  • Believe that the body operates like a machine, and that it makes bad decisions when things go wrong.  Malfunctioning parts can be removed at little consequence.

What kind of doctor do you want?  One will foster health creation and show you the narrow path that involves personal responsibility and change.  The other will take away vital body parts and put you into a chemically induced existence so you don't have to deal with the your life/pain/disease.  One way empowers, the other is an escape.

I know what kind of doctor I am.  If you are ready, then I am ready for you.

Chiropractic described by a patient.

Chiropractic accurately described by long-term patient, Bill Esteb (owner, http://patientmedia.com)
"Patients (and insurance carriers) see chiropractors as spine doctors. Both look through the allopathic (medical) lens of symptom treating, seeing the body as a collection of parts that breakdown independently of the others and that being symptom-free is the objective.
Conversely, chiropractors who practice in a way congruent with the principles of chiropractic see themselves as facilitators, guides and allies. Their holistic view of the body helps them appreciate that each of us is greater than the sum of our parts. Each of us is an experiment of one and that the objective of care is to help patients adapt to their environment and express their fullest potential." -- Bill Esteb.
Since everything in your body can affect everything in your body, people must be viewed as individuals instead of symptoms. I have spent my life studying health, and I can apply the principles of health to anyone and help them actually live out health and wellness. The medical industry studies sickness and disease, and treat sickness and disease. The important distinction is that the principles of sickness cannot be used to make someone experience health. When you give sick care to a nation and call it health care, you end up with a sick society and a health care crisis.
If you want to begin your wellness journey, and discover how full life was meant to be, I am here to be your facilitator, coach, and doctor. http://trinitychirowellness.com

One body, One life

At each moment, you are either moving towards health & wellness and away from sickness and disease, or you are moving towards sickness & disease and away from health and wellness.  If your determination is that you are moving the wrong way, then let this be a wake up call for you.
The things that are killing most people are preventable lifestyle diseases!  Heart disease, Cancer, Diabetes.  The fourth largest killer is the solution for those problems: drugs and surgery (see Journal of the American Medical Association)!   We are doing something wrong, we need to refresh our thinking.  Health is and has always been a personal responsibility.  That is why insurance companies do not pay for health, they pay for symptoms.  Does your insurance company pay to change the oil in your car?  Get it aligned?  Put a roof on your house?  NO, because that is your responsibility.  Insurance pays for accidents, and once the symptom is gone, then it is your job to create health.  You need insurance for accidents, but don’t expect it to keep you healthy.  Unlike a car or a house, you only get one body, one nervous system.  This is about asking the right questions: What does it take for a body to be healthy?  How can I shift my body towards better health/balance?  Are you the right person to take care of my family and I?

The way to insure your health is to stay active, get adjusted, eat right, guard your mind, spend time with God.  This insurance pays dividends of increased energy, increased immune system, increased metabolism, increased peace.  Well worth the investment because it enriches your life, not managing your disease and symptoms.  The biggest lie we have is a Sick care system that calls itself Health care.  When you give sick care to a nation and call it health care, you end up with a sick society and a healthcare crisis.  Sound familiar?  It places the cause of your health outside of you, and as we all know deep down, the cause of most of our problems can be found in the mirror.

The Great Deception

--from naturalnews.com

"Pharmaceutical industry is a giant fraud

The pharmaceutical industry, as operated today, is based almost entirely on scientific fraud, bribery of doctors, misleading advertising and corrupt regulatory agencies like the FDA. Most prescription medications simply don't help most people. They only mask symptoms while ignoring the underlying causes of disease.

Nearly all pharmaceuticals are sold with the Big Lie... the implied (but false) promise that "These drugs will make you healthier." That's why drug ads always show happy, healthy people popping their pills. (Well, technically they never even show them popping the pills. They just show them doing yoga, hiking in the woods, or whatever looks good.)

I can't think of a single pharmaceutical that actually makes you healthier. Almost universally, prescription medications cause long-term damage to the heart, liver, kidneys and nervous system. Over time, they erode your health, accelerate your apparent aging and promote chronic degenerative disease."

Couldn't have said it better myself. Health is something you work on and work towards. It isn't contained in a pill, liquid, or vaccine. We all know that if you put toxic chemicals in a pond, the fish will die...why can we not figure out that the same things happen with our bodies? Everyday I see people looking in the wrong places for health, when the truth is that the promise of health is within each one of us.

Here is an article where children can get a pizza party for taking their swine flu shots. I did not believe this article was real, it is almost completely unfathomable that companies are enticing children to get injected.

WWake up people! Your health is yours to nurture or lose. Your body is always moving towards health & wellness, or towards sickness & death. If your determination is that you are moving the wrong way, I invite you to make a change, and I am here for you.

Nothing Worth Having Comes Easy, and that Includes Your Health

This Christmas season, I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to serve the community as a guide, coach, and teacher of health and healing. I've been seeing more and more mental lightbulbs turn on this year as people are beginning to take charge of their health, and understand that pharmaceutical companies are not benevolent-driven, but are profit-driven enterprises.

The mass cultural hypnosis that has gotten sucked into the medical model of symptom treating is following the smooth, flat, easy path that requires no personal effort. Therefore, it is no surprise that it does not produce health. Those choosing chiropractic are pursuing health, following the narrow, challenging, and ultimately rewarding path. Our health is our individual responsibility, and symptom treating is not health care, it is sick care. When you use sick care as health care, you end up with a sick society and a health care crisis.

Since the 1960's we have annually increased our consumption of drugs and surgery. Guess what...since the 1960's we have progressively gotten sicker and sicker as a nation. Who thinks we need more drugs and surgery? Currently, the US ranks 37th in overall health while it spends more than any other country on health care and consumes over 90% of the worlds pharmaceuticals!

Health is largely wisdom that was passed down through generations (eat well, move well, think well). At some point, our common sense was taken away by convenience, advertising, and marketing. The secret to a healthy life and feeling young is to keep your body moving properly so it does not deteriorate prematurely (chiropractic adjustments, exercise, good posture), eating from nature's medicine cabinet (raw fruits and vegetables, grass-fed & hormone free meat), and maintaining hope, faith, and an optimistic outlook (translation: TURN OFF THE NEWS!)

What I'm trying to get to is that drugs and doctors do not heal (that is right, chiropractors included). Only the power within your body, and your Creator can heal. As the developer of chiropractic stated, "Nature needs no help, just no interference."

As a chiropractor, I remove the interference so your body can flourish.

In Health,

Dr. Cole

Happy Thanksgiving!

I wanted to wish you all a very happy Thanksgiving this year. Amidst all the turmoil, we have a lot to be thankful for, and it is always good to take time and count your blessings.

As I was taking inventory of life this morning, I realized how thankful I am to be serving the community doing what I love. It is because of all our practice members that I am able to live my dream. So I want to send out a big thank you to everyone who is supporting our mission of a healthy community that is not dependent on drugs and surgery. Many have realized that we are stuck in a sick care model that cannot bring us health, and have taken personal responsibility to create change.

Nothing makes me happier than seeing someone "get it" and be empowered by that knowledge. Happy Thanksgiving!

May you always have work for your hands to do.
May your pockets hold always a coin or two.
May the sun shine bright on your windowpane.
May the rainbow be certain to follow each rain.
May the hand of a friend always be near you.
And may God fill your heart with gladness to cheer you.

STUDIES ON CHIROPRACTIC AND DEPRESSION

Proven RESULTS, and NO SIDE EFFECTS

1.) Study of 2,818 patients found chiropractic care significantly improved patients' well being: Seventy-six percent of the patients studied reported improved combined wellness changes in all categories assessed, emotional well being improved 26 percent, negative feelings toward self improved 23 percent, depression improved 20 percent, difficulty sleeping improved 11 percent and family relations improved 21 percent.

2.) A published 15 person study concluded "that a positive relationship exists between a correction of the occipitoatlantoaxial subluxation complex and a reduction in depressive symptoms in some people".

3.) Another 98 subject study published in Molecular Psychiatry found that when an addiction treatment program was supplemented with frequent chiropractic adjustments over a 30-day period, the patients displayed an unprecedented 100 percent program completion rate. In addition, initially rampant depression and anxiety dropped significantly.

4.) From the 1920s to 1960s, several chiropractic mental asylums existed in the Midwest of the U.S. Surviving documentation shows a North Dakota judge reporting a 65% recovery or improvement rate at one asylum, compared to 27% at a standard asylum.
Chiropractic has also amassed a sizable collection of case studies documenting drastic results in: ADD/ADHD, Depression, Bi-Polar Diagnosis, Tourettes, Autism Diagnosis and other neurological disorders.
AGAIN, ONLY BENEFIT AND NO DEADLY SIDE EFFECTS. WHO DO YOU KNOW THAT HAS THESE PROBLEMS AND ISN'T SEEING A CHIROPRACTOR?

5.) A related study in Journal of Neuroscience conducted at Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine, found that physical changes in the brain caused by chronic pain are likely to lead to depression as well as other pain-related symptoms. In the study, the researchers demonstrated that the wiring in the brain of someone dealing with chronic pain is different than that of pain-free individuals. In the brain of a pain-free individual, all the regions of the brain exist in a complementary state, meaning that if one region of the brain is active the other regions are at rest. But in people with chronic pain, a front region of the cortex mostly associated with emotion is constantly active.

Chiropractic Improves Brain Wave Patterns, Brain Function

A study presented at the International Research And Philosophy Symposium held at Sherman College of Straight Chiropractic in October, 2004 finds that Chiropractic adjustments have a positive effect on the Central Nervous System (CNS), specifically on the four primary frequencies of brain function.

Brain function is measured on four primary frequencies: Beta, Alpha, Theta and Delta. Alpha waves reflect the meditative, relaxing healing mode. Beta waves represent the active, busy brain. Theta waves reflect light sleep, relaxation and conceptual development. Delta waves represent the brain activity during deep sleep, repair mode and energy storage.

The study was conducted over a three year period. Approximately 100 volunteers were examined with an electroencephalogram (EEG) before and after chiropractic adjustments.
The EEG scans were examined to check the right/left balance, the amount of total activity, the primary regions of activity and the effect of the adjustment.

After receiving a chiropractic adjustment, post EEG scans revealed improvement in all areas of the volunteer's brain function. Particularly, the researchers noticed an increase in the meditative Alpha brainwave patterns that are associated with a greater degree of relaxation, health and healing.

The researchers noted that some of the volunteers already had balanced and active brain scans and the adjustments had little effect on their post scans. They felt this was a good indicator that the adjustments had no negative effects on brain activity.

I Thought I Had Heard it All...

Until now.

In an article titled "Simultaneous Vaccines OK" from the Fort Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel on Oct. 19, 2009, "experts" from the Federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention were asked "Is it true you must wait a while between getting a regular flu shot and a swine flu shot?

The "experts" replied: "No. In general, you can get the swine flu vaccine injection at the same time as your seasonal flu vaccination. ... But get them in different arms so the two vaccines don't intermingle."

That is the most preposterous statement I have heard all month, maybe all year!  These are people you are supposed to listen to about your health and they are either completely clueless or intentionally deceitful.  If blood courses through you whole body, and you inject a partially live virus (attenuated) into your bloodstream, is there any possibility the two will not "intermingle" somewhere in your blood or body?  Logic dictates the answer is NO, but they want to make sure you get your shots so you can be "protected."  Let us not forget that these shots do contain Thimerosal, a mercury-containing organic compound used as a preservative.  I find it funny that the CDC also has multiple articles on the toxicity and dangers of mercury poisoning, but blindly recommends multiple vaccinations with mercury additives.  Hey, it's safe, they won't "intermingle."

Here is the link to the article
